Actual Storage Capacity of Free TeraBox Account
TeraBox’s claim of 1TB of free cloud storage is a strong marketing point. However, the actual usable storage for free accounts is significantly less. While your TeraBox dashboard may display 1024GB, you’re limited to uploading a maximum of 20 files, each with a maximum size of 4GB.
This means the actual storage capacity of free TeraBox account is only 80GB.
TeraBox does mention these limitations on their pricing page, but it’s easy for users to overlook this information during sign-up.
Testing The Limits
To verify our findings, we tested the storage capacity limits of our TeraBox account.
File Limits in Free TeraBox
We used our free TeraBox account and successfully uploaded 20 files of different sizes.
However, when attempting to upload another file, the TeraBox app displayed an error message stating that the maximum file limit had been reached.
To store more files, we would need to upgrade to a premium plan, which allows up to 50,000 files.
File Limits in TeraBox Premium
To push things further, we upgraded to a premium TeraBox plan to test the 50,000 file limit.
While uploading 50,000 files individually would be incredibly time-consuming, we attempted to upload a folder containing more than 50,000 files.
TeraBox again displayed an error message, indicating that we couldn’t save the files due to exceeding the file limit
Conclusion
TeraBox’s free 1TB offer comes with significant limitations. Free users can only upload 20 files of up to 4GB each, resulting in a maximum usable storage of 80GB – far less than advertised.
Upgrading to their premium $3.49/month plan allows for storing up to 50,000 files (20GB each) and raises the total storage to 2TB.
If you’re on a tight budget and need the full 1TB capacity of a TeraBox account, you can consider using TeraBox Mod APK. This would unlock premium features without requiring a subscription. However, be aware that modified APKs often carry significant security risks.
